Teaching Assistant (Life Skills, Autism)

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to specialise in Life Skills, to support students with Autism and other SEN needs in school.

The School

This Oftsed rated 'Good' school for students with Severe and Profound learning difficulties, is based in the North of Bolton and is easily accessible by local transport links and by car.
The students range of 11-19 years old and have a number of SEN, such as Autism, Downs Syndrome and Aspergers, and may have other physical disabilities.
The curriculum is designed to focus on their core subjects and help them work towards independence, by developing life skills and social and emotional maturity.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support either specific classes or specific students, ensuring behaviour is managed and the inclusion of each student.
A patient approach and the ability the break down and assist with explanations of activities is necessary as some students may struggle to understand their instructions and may need extra help with executing each activity.
A candidate with a knowledge of key skills and life skills would be ideal to ensure a high level of knowledge in these classes.
The roles hours are from 8.30am to 3.30pm and can be offered on a full or part time basis, with the opportunity for permanency in the new school year.
All candidates will need to have a child only enhanced DBS which is registered to the update service, which can be obtained via Teaching Personnel.
