Teaching Assistant (Life Skills)
Job description

Are you familiar with teaching life skills such as money handling, cooking and general housekeeping?
Have you supported children with SEN?
Teaching Personnel work with a number of SEN Secondary schools who support students with learning needs, such as autism, ADHD, aspergers and downs syndrome. These conditions mean that the students need more assistance in gaining their independence and will take classes in life skills.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support these students in the classroom, helping them to engage in their lessons and understand as much as possible to help them develop skills they can use in later life as adults.
This role requires patience and a caring approach, so the students feel supported, encouraged and relaxed within their learning environment. With some of the conditions, students can become distressed or upset easily, so a calm and calculated approach to them, and taking the time to understand their individual needs and personalities is necessary.
Any qualifications or training you may have in teaching functional or life skills or general SEN is ideal, however Teaching Personnel are open to considering experience from all areas, and offer multiple opportunities for training through our CPD Academy.
When working through Teaching Personnel, candidates have access to support 5 days per week, competitive pay rates and weekly pay. Contracts through the schools we work with are generally temporary with opportunities for extension and permanency, and can be flexible for part time and full time needs.
All candidates MUST have an enhanced child only DBS on the update service, or be willing to obtain one which Teaching Personnel can advise on.
If you think this role is something you'd be great at, send your CV, and a consultant will get back to you.
