Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a dedicated, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a friendly Primary School in the heart of Cardiff. This is a full-time position supporting a Key Stage 2 class, with a particular focus on providing 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child's educational journey while becoming part of a supportive school community. The successful candidate will be confident adapting to individual learning needs, promoting positive behaviour, and encouraging pupils to develop both academically and socially.

While the role will primarily involve one-to-one support, there may be occasions where you will work with small intervention groups or assist the wider classroom. As some pupils may display challenging behaviour, strong behaviour management skills, patience, and resilience are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs.
• Deliver intervention sessions to individuals and small groups to support learning and progress.
• Support the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of pupils.

The Ideal Candidate Will

• Have experience working with children, either professionally, through volunteering, or in a personal capacity.
• Be confident supporting children with a range of learning needs and abilities.
• Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
• Be patient, reliable, and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for education.
• Be able to use initiative while also working effectively as part of a team.

Essential Requirements

• Enhanced Child-Only DBS Certificate (Teaching Personnel can support you with this process).
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – a mandatory requirement for working in schools in Wales.
• Two professional references.
• Experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
