SEN Teaching Assistant required in Templecombe (5 miles south of Wincanton, Somerset)
This SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) Special School caters for boys with specific learning difficulties associated with learning delays or underachievement including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ASD, ADHD, OCD and mild auditory, visual and physical disabilities.
The school is a small close-knit community which seeks to provide an excellent education within a secure and caring environment, where every child can feel safe and is valued as an individual. Everything they do is centred upon recognising the particular special and individual needs of each pupil, helping him to overcome his difficulties and to achieve his full potential.
As a Teaching Assistant at this SEN school, you will be expected to work in small groups or on a 1:1 basis. You will work alongside the class teacher and other teaching assistants to support male pupils between the ages of 5 and 12 with their education and outside of the classroom environment.
It would be beneficial if you have knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum.
As this role does involve working with young people who can present challenging behaviour, it is essential you have knowledge of the difficulties it can bring. Experience working in similar setting is desirable.
