WHAT: Teaching Assistant supporting pupils in primary and secondary school - become a role model!

WHERE: Based in Monmouthshire 

WHEN: February 2021

Teaching Personnel are working closely with primary and secondary schools looking to offer paid intern-ships for aspiring teachers! We are looking for teaching assistants who can work full time Monday to Friday for the rest of the academic year. Having a passion or experience working or volunteering with children is desirable but not essential. Any experience will be taken into account. What has worked well previously in this type of role is candidates with youth work, care, nursing, coaching, drama and personal experience with children. Your personality and attitude is the main factor when choosing the successful teaching assistant. A minimum of core GCSE’s is required.

The job of a teaching assistant is a vital role in education it bridges the gap between teacher and student to digest information, motivate and encourage to fulfil their potential. This teaching assistant role consists of working 1:1 and in small groups with children with either challenging behaviour or special educational needs. You will build a rapport with the child in order to gain their attention and help them focus on the work, aiding their learning. The types of special needs you will be supporting are autism, ADHD, hearing and visual impairment, social and emotional and mental health! 

You'll be joining a large team of teaching assistants that support the whole schools needs. There is an opportunity to work in a special needs resource base (SNRB) within one of the school where you will be primarily situated. You'll be supporting the children with learning as well as well-being in the SNRB and mainstream classes. 

Teaching Assistant Intern:

  • Must have an enhanced DBS (assistance provided)
  • Registered with the education workforce council (assistance provided)
  • A minimum of core GCSE's
  • Available full time 
  • Safeguarding Trained (assistance provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
