Teaching Assistant
Job description
A specialist SEN school in Wimborne is seeking a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant to join its team from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs in a nurturing and structured environment.
The school caters for pupils with diverse special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students access learning, develop independence, and build confidence.
Key responsibilities:

Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
-
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
-
Help implement individual education plans (EHCPs)
-
Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
-
Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
The ideal candidate will:

Have experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential)
-
Be patient, empathetic, and resilient
-
Have strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Be proactive and willing to learn new strategies
-
Be committed to supporting the individual needs of every student

Location: Wimborne, Dorset
Contract: Full-time, term-time only (part-time may be considered)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
