 Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Weymouth)

Location: Weymouth, Dorset
Pay: £85 – £95 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
Contract: Full-time or part-time, flexible start dates
Start: September 2025 (or sooner for the right candidate)

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join welcoming primary schools across Weymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to develop a career in education—whether you're an experienced TA, a recent graduate, or someone looking to make a career change into the education sector.


 About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, your role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • Working 1:1 with pupils with additional needs (SEN) or in small intervention groups
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and supporting classroom activities
  • Promoting a positive learning environment and helping pupils stay engaged
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff

 The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children (in schools, nurseries, youth work, tutoring, or similar)
  • A positive, patient and proactive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A desire to support learning and promote pupil progress
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA, CACHE, or similar) – not essential but desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
