Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Tameside
Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Contract: Full-time / Part-time available – Temporary with potential for permanent
Start Date: Immediate / September 2025 (flexible)
Salary: Competitive hourly rate, paid weekly via PAYE

Teaching Personnel are excited to support a well-regarded secondary school in Tameside with the recruitment of a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students’ learning and wellbeing in a busy school environment.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to support students with a range of learning needs, helping to improve their progress and confidence. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils in class and in small groups, including those with special educational needs (SEN).

  • Assisting with the preparation and delivery of learning activities.

  • Helping students to stay engaged and focused during lessons.

  • Supporting literacy, numeracy, and other intervention programmes.

  • Contributing to behaviour management by promoting positive conduct.

  • Supervising students during breaks and lunchtime where necessary.

  • Providing one-to-one support for students with specific needs as directed by teaching staff.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting is preferred but not essential.

  • A patient, empathetic approach and excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.

  • Willingness to undertake training and development.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to apply).

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
