Teaching Assistant – Additional Needs (SEND)

Location: Southampton
Employer: Teaching Personnel
Hours: Part-time / Full-time / Flexible
Contract: Temporary placements with opportunities for permanent roles

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a real difference in their lives? Teaching Personnel is seeking caring, committed individuals to work as Teaching Assistants supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in school settings.

No prior experience as a Teaching Assistant is required. We welcome applications from people with relevant backgrounds or transferable experience, including:

  • Carers (formal or informal)

  • Experience supporting individuals with additional needs

  • Health, care, youth work, or support roles

  • Or simply a clear desire to work with vulnerable children and young people

About the Role

  • Supporting children with additional needs on a 1:1 basis or in small groups

  • Working closely with class teachers and SEN teams

  • Helping pupils to access learning, build confidence, and develop social skills

  • Placements range from short-term cover to long-term roles

  • Many temporary placements lead to permanent positions directly with schools

Requirements

  • Aged 21 or over

  • Enhanced DBS on the Child Workforce, or willingness to apply for one

  • Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
