We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded educational setting in Poole. This role will commence on 22nd April 2025, following the Easter break, and offers flexible part-time working options.
About the School:
This Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school provides specialist education for students aged 12 to 18 with special educational needs.
The school is dedicated to empowering children and young people with disabilities, ensuring they reach their full potential through comprehensive, lifelong support and high-quality educational services. With a strong focus on individual development, they offer a wide range of tailored programmes designed to meet the unique needs of each student, fostering growth, independence, and confidence.
The school day runs from 8.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Your Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide personalised support tailored to each student's learning style and needs.
- Promote emotional and social well-being, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment.
- Assist teachers in creating inclusive learning experiences, tracking progress, and building students' confidence.
- Develop engaging learning strategies under the guidance of the teacher.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns.
- Collaborate with specialists, such as speech and language therapists, to support student development.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting children or adults with special educational needs.
- While not essential, a willingness to assist with personal care when required would be beneficial.
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent)..
- Adaptability and a willingness to support varied learning styles.
- A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure, ensuring students feel supported.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
