The Head Teacher and SENCO of a reputable Primary School in Leyland are on the look-out for an academic Teaching Assistant to work alongside small groups of pupils in Y6 delivering Maths and English interventions. This role is to start ASAP and will be working 08:45-15:20 Monday-Friday term time only. This role is to begin from 15th April or ASAP.

The role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner with excellent knowledge of Maths and English and somebody who would be confident differentiating the Class Teacher’s plans to suit more able pupils. The role will be to work alongside several children in the Year 6 class in small groups and as individuals. The children are being prepared for the end of year SATs and so it is important that they receive small group booster sessions to give them the best opportunity to reach their potential. You will be expected to hold strong written and spoken English skills as well as Maths. You will be expected to work alongside the class teacher in Year 6 to differentiate the planning and have an impact on the acceleration of learning in these subject areas. It is not essential that you have delivered SATs booster sessions previously, however it would be beneficial as the speed at which the successful candidate would need to impact the children’s learning will be monitored initially.

The school:

This is a one form entry Primary School located in Leyland. Senior Leaders are well respected by staff, parents and pupils and have an excellent reputation within the community. The school is situated within a residential area and behaviour is exemplary. Staff comment on the support they receive on arrival as well as the enthusiasm the Head teacher has for moving her children from their start point to the end, which now shows good progress.
