Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

A dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant is required to join a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) school on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to provide meaningful support to students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students who have struggled in mainstream settings re-engage with their education and develop positive relationships and behaviours. The school is looking for someone with strong behaviour management skills, a calm and empathetic approach, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people with SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class and one-to-one support to students, encouraging engagement and focus.

  • Implement and maintain effective behaviour management strategies.

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with students, offering empathy and consistency.

  • Assist teaching staff in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials to meet individual needs.

  • Offer emotional and behavioural support, helping students regulate their emotions in a constructive manner.

  • Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

  • Monitor and report on student progress to ensure targeted support is in place.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a Teaching Assistant or support role within a SEMH or special educational needs setting.

  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support students facing emotional and behavioural difficulties.

  • A reliable and consistent approach to supporting vulnerable learners.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
