This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with autism and complex learning needs in a nurturing and highly supportive environment. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and a love of learning.

No two days are the same. Whether you're supporting pupils in the classroom, facilitating sensory activities, encouraging social interaction, or celebrating personal achievements, you'll be helping children reach important milestones and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff, you'll contribute to creating positive learning experiences that enable pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

  • Support pupils with autism and additional learning needs both in and outside the classroom.
  • Assist with the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions.
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Adapt your approach to meet individual learning, communication, and sensory needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

About the Setting

The school provides specialist education for primary-aged pupils with autism and complex learning, communication, and sensory needs. With small class sizes and a highly personalised approach, the school is committed to ensuring every child feels valued, understood, and supported to succeed.

The setting offers a nurturing environment where pupils benefit from tailored support, structured learning, and opportunities to develop confidence and independence.

  • Caring, patient, and resilient.
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
  • Confident working with pupils with autism and complex learning needs.
  • Adaptable across classroom, sensory, and outdoor learning environments.
  • Strong communicators who work effectively as part of a team.
  • Motivated to learn and develop within a specialist educational setting.

Essential Requirements

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and remain calm under pressure.

Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs is desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.

Why Apply?

  • Permanent, term-time-only position.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Opportunity to gain specialist SEN experience.
  • Career progression opportunities within education and specialist support services.
  • The chance to make a genuine and lasting difference to young people's lives.
