Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated, resilient and caring Behaviour Support Worker to join a dedicated team focused on improving outcomes for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

In this role, you will work through Teaching Personnel, supporting schools and specialist settings to deliver targeted interventions that promote positive behaviour, engagement and learning.

You will be based across a range of settings, including in-reach sessions at a support centre and outreach work within local schools. Occasional work across additional linked sites may also be required.

This is a term-time only position (40 weeks per year). Travel across Hampshire is required, so a full driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.


Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Work closely with colleagues to identify pupil needs and contribute to support planning
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils with SEMH needs in both centre and school settings
  • Support pupils within classrooms to help them engage and succeed in learning
  • Work alongside school staff to model effective practice and develop understanding of behaviour and SEMH strategies
  • Support the delivery of in-reach provision for pupils attending the centre
  • Contribute to training delivery and wider service development when required
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families, carers and external professionals
  • Record, monitor and report on pupil progress and engagement

What We’re Looking For

  • A Level 3 qualification in education, health or social care (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Experience working in schools, ideally supporting children with additional needs
  • Understanding of factors that can impact behaviour and learning
  • Strong relationship-building skills with children and young people
  • Confidence in managing challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • A team-focused attitude with good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Good IT and record-keeping ability

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
