Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support (Secondary School)
An exciting opportunity has arisen at a mainstream secondary school in Christchurch, who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with behavioural needs. The school is committed to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment, and this role is essential in helping to create a supportive space for students to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with behavioural challenges in and outside of the classroom
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement behaviour management strategies and plans
- Assist in delivering personalised support to ensure students’ academic and emotional needs are met
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging them to engage with their learning
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents
- Assist in the delivery of individualised support programs
- Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational or behaviour support setting
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- An understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff alike
- A genuine desire to help students overcome challenges and succeed
Qualifications:
- A relevant qualification in education or special needs (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, Level 3 or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
- Experience in supporting students with additional behavioural needs is beneficial

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
