Teaching Assistant

Location: Christchurch, Dorset
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only
A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Christchurch is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people in their learning and development. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the Special Educational Needs (SEN) team to provide classroom-based and 1:1 support across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key Responsibilities:

Support students in accessing the curriculum and making progress in lessons
-
Work with individuals or small groups of students under the direction of the class teacher
-
Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom activities
-
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
-
Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a calm and supportive atmosphere
-
Liaise with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to provide consistent support
The ideal candidate will:
-
Be enthusiastic, reliable, and patient
-
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Be confident working with secondary-aged students
-
Be proactive and able to use their initiative
-
Have a genuine interest in education and supporting young people
Previous experience working in a school setting or with young people is desirable but not essential. Applications are welcome from those looking to begin a career in education, including recent graduates and career changers.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
