Teaching Assistant

Location: Poole | Sector: Secondary Education | Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Poole is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education and making a real difference in the lives of young people.
Working across a range of year groups, the successful candidate will provide tailored classroom support to students with varying needs, helping to create an environment where all learners feel valued and are able to achieve their full potential. The role may involve supporting individuals or small groups, assisting with classroom activities, and helping to implement personalised learning strategies under the guidance of the class teacher and SEN department.

Key Responsibilities:

Support teaching staff in the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons

Work one-to-one or in small groups with students to reinforce learning

Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive learning habits

Contribute to the wider school community and student wellbeing initiatives
The ideal candidate will have:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting
-
A calm, patient and proactive approach to supporting learners
-
A genuine interest in education and student development
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
While formal qualifications are not essential, relevant experience or a background in education, childcare, or youth work would be advantageous.
This is a full-time position, working term time only, and would suit someone looking to build a career in education or considering teacher training in the future.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
