Teaching Personnel are working with a distinguished specialist school committed to academic excellence and holistic student development. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team.

Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant you will play a pivotal role in supporting classroom teachers and providing assistance to students with SEMH needs. You will work closely with individuals and small groups, delivering targeted interventions, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere conducive to academic progress and personal growth. Your role will be integral in providing additional support to students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers in the delivery of lessons, providing tailored support and guidance to students with SEMH needs.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning objectives and provide additional pastoral support.
  • Help to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students with SEMH needs feel understood, supported, and valued.
  • Collaborate with teachers and external agencies to develop and implement personalised support plans for students with SEMH needs.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and any areas requiring additional support or intervention, particularly in relation to SEMH needs.
  • Contribute to the overall pastoral care and well-being of students, promoting positive behaviour and attitudes and providing appropriate support during challenging situations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs within an educational setting is highly desirable but not necessary.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental health needs of young people, with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • A proactive approach to learning and professional development, with a willingness to engage in training opportunities related to SEMH support and interventions.

This is a great opportunity for someone considering a career change and have a passion supporting pupils with additional needs. As mentioned previous experience or transferable skills are great but are not necessary.

Due to the needs of the pupils and the importance of continuity for them, we will only be able to consider applicants that can work full time hours Monday – Friday with an 8:30 start.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
