- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans (BSPs), ensuring the student's needs are met effectively.
- Adapt teaching materials and strategies to suit the individual learning style and pace of the student, providing differentiated instruction and scaffolding as required.
- Foster positive relationships with the student, building trust and rapport to encourage engagement, motivation, and confidence in their abilities.
- Monitor and assess the student's progress and achievements, maintaining detailed records and reports to track outcomes and inform future support strategies.
- Communicate regularly with parents and carers, providing updates on the student's progress, achievements, and any concerns or challenges.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 support capacity, is highly desirable.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy for students with diverse learning needs, along with a genuine commitment to supporting their development and well-being.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Understanding of SEN strategies and interventions, including differentiation, behavior management, and communication techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, following guidance and direction from SEN professionals and other stakeholders.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs are advantageous but not essential.
Why Join Us:
- Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a student with SEN and contribute to their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Supportive and inclusive work environment with opportunities for training, professional development, and career progression.
- Competitive salary and benefits package, including pension scheme and generous holiday allowance.
- Chance to work within a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
