Teaching Assistant immediately required- Manchester

A Specialist School in Manchester are currently looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant in September 2018. The position is full time and is initially temporary for the first term September 2018- December, however there could also be longer term roles available.

The School caters for pupils 11-16 with a wide range of diverse needs including: social, emotional and mental health needs and pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour. The main aim of the Setting is to integrate pupils back into Mainstream School wherever possible.

The role will involve providing support and intervention to pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour in order to their educational attainment. The role will also involve working closely with pupils who have been identified as disengaged and supporting them in developing their life skills such as problem solving.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils the Behaviour Support Assistant will have:

• A level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirably level 3)
• Experience working with pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour
• An understanding of the importance of effective de-escalation tactics
• Team- Teach training (can be provided)
• A commitment to promote and encourage the holistic development of pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour
