Teaching Assistant for the Visually Impaired
Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a 1:1 Primary School, SEN Teaching Assistant who specialises in working with children who use braille and have a visual impairment in the Lincoln area.
The ability to converse at ease with children and staff members and provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement of this post.
The role of teaching assistant for the visually impaired will entail:
- Working alongside the main class teacher, aiding in any areas of weakness
- Helping to raise attainment of the child with special educational needs
- Working 1:1 with a child with a visual impairment who requires the use of braille
- Provide emotional support to the child when needed
The ideal candidate would:
- Be motivated
- Be dynamic and hard-working
- Show passion in the area and desire to succeed.
- Have some prior experience working with children
- Have good communication and team-working skills
- Be patient and caring, whilst knowing when to step back and allow the child to be independent
- Aid the teacher throughout the school day to make sure the classes run smoothly
- Have the relevant SEN experience in braille and working with children with a visual impairment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
