Job Posting: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sutton, Surrey
Start Date: Tuesday 22nd April (flexible for the right candidate)
Contract: Full-time (term-time only) / Part-time considered
Salary: Competitive, based on experience (+ SEN allowance)
About the School:
A welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Sutton dedicated to supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The school fosters a nurturing environment with tailored learning approaches and outstanding facilities.
Role & Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD, MLD, SLCN, and ADHD.

Assist in implementing EHCPs and individualized learning strategies.
-
Use visual aids, sensory tools, and positive behavior management techniques.
-
Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging, adaptive lessons.
-
Promote social interaction, communication, and emotional regulation.
-
Monitor progress and provide feedback to the SENCO/teaching team.
Ideal Candidate:
-
Experience working with SEN (especially ASD, ADHD, or MLD) in a school or care setting.
-
Training in PECS, Makaton, Team Teach, or ABA (desirable but not essential).
-
Patience, resilience, and creativity to engage learners with diverse needs.
-
A proactive, compassionate approach and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
-
Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching & Learning) are a plus.
