Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist)

We are so lucky to announce that we are working with a fantastic new client school in the Tameside (SK16) area who are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants specialising in Autism Support!
The school’s Curriculum is organised into a Sensory Curriculum, an Adapted National Curriculum and the National Curriculum to meet the complex to severe needs of the students, who are predominantly diagnosed with Autism, whilst encouraging ongoing development in a holistic and supportive environment.
As a Teaching Assistant specialising in Autism, you will need to support heavily with communication needs such as Picture Exchange, Signing or with electronic aids- experience using these methods would be ideal to provide immediate support in class. You will also assist with sensory and holistic activities which encourage social, emotional and cognitive development, building a skillset that the students can take with them into later life!
The national curriculum is engrained into adapted and suitable lessons so all students can achieve their best.
Additionally, due to the needs of the children you must expect to meet some challenging and demanding behaviours; de-escalation tactics and training is areas such as Team-Teach would be ideal for intervention.
Overall you must be knowledgeable in at least some of the above relevant areas, as well as being a passionate and caring person who can be a source of care, support and happiness for these young pupils.
All applicants must be aware that to work in our client schools, you must have an update service registered Child Workforce DBS certificate – Teaching Personnel are happy to assist with an application!
In addition we can provide extensive opportunities for training and development, with exclusive courses available to all registered candidates such as Teaching Assistant and Child Psychology Diplomas.
The opportunity to work within this school is temporary but for a hard-working candidate there is always opportunity for extension and permanency!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
