Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Temporary, starting October 2025


About the Role

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision. This full-time role offers the chance to make a real difference to a young person requiring additional behavioural and emotional support.

You will be joining a large, inclusive secondary school in Newport with a strong ethos of “a school for all, where everyone succeeds.”

You will be working in the schools well-established ALN provision, including a resource base for pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties. Staff benefit from excellent professional learning opportunities, a collaborative culture, and a commitment to supporting pupils from all backgrounds.

What We’re Looking for?

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A positive, proactive, and compassionate attitude
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours
  • The ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
  • Confidence in delivering structured, tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
  • A commitment to encouraging the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
  • Strong communication skills to work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Requirements

Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training
  • At least two professional references covering the past two years
