Teaching Assisant - Divizes

A School located in Devizes that caters for pupils with SEN needs aged between 10 and 16 who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). In most cases the primary identified need is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural difficulties. Though the majority of pupils have additional special educational needs such as Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), AD(H)D, speech, language and communication difficulties, opposition defiance and attachment disorders.

"We have expanded our provision and currently offer 85 day placements for pupils referred from the local authority. Primarily our pupils come from Wiltshire, however, we have also educated pupils from BANES, Swindon, Somerset and Hampshire and continue to do so."- Seinor Team Leader

The school is situated on the southern edge of Devizes in beautiful countryside and opened in 1971. The school are a happy, friendly and inclusive school. "We are pleased to accommodate pupils with varying aptitudes and abilities and we are proud of the achievements and progress that all the pupils make." - Head Teacher

The School are now looking to appoint a skilled Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team, specifically to lead and manage the process of transitioning new pupils into the SEN School, to ensure their readiness to join in September 2019.

Key areas of work will include:

  • Visiting primary schools and undertaking observations of pupils in their current settings
  • Creating pen portraits and risk assessments for pupils
  • Liaising with parents and carers as appropriate
  • Planning and delivering transition programme in collaboration with school staff
  • There may also be the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of quality teaching and learning in the school by supporting teachers to deliver lessons for individuals and small groups of students
