A local Secondary School in the Portsmouth area are in need of a Teacher of Spanish to work across KS3/4 from February for the rest of the academic year for a Maternity cover position. Due to their close partnership with the feeder Primary School, they may give the opportunity to teach Spanish to the upper years of KS2.

The school is located in Portsmouth with quick links to the M27, A27 and A3. it caters for mainstream secondary pupils and attracts a diverse set of pupils across its Key stages. A more traditional school, they are governed by the local education authority and have an excellent reputation among local teachers. You will be joining a well-resourced MFL department with experienced staff and a strong leader of department. You will be expected to plan interesting and challenging Spanish Language lessons that will engage pupils and you will have the natural ability to deliver them with confidence and enthusiasm. You will need to be experienced teaching GCSE Spanish and be familiar with the current curriculum.


What you'll need to succeed-

To be successful in your new teaching job you will have completed your studies and hold QTS. You will be an experienced Spanish teacher that is passionate about student progress and is committed to helping pupils to achieve their academic potential. The school are able to support an NQT, though it is preferred that you have completed some prior teaching within the UK curriculum, or have held support positions prior to training. 

The role you'll be undertaking-

You'll be taking on a full teaching timetable with the relevant allocation of planning time. The curriculum is enriched by several trips organised yearly to such places as Boulogne-sur Mer in France and the school also has long standing links with a school in Murcia Spain. Your timetable will also include a tutor group for which you will be responsible for and include the teaching of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education is a school curriculum subject in England which focuses on developing the knowledge, skills and attributes to keep children and young people healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
