JOB DESCRIPTION

A Client school are in search of a Teacher of music who can bring technology and passion into the classroom. With a modern update to its facilities, the school are looking to invite a teacher whose music skills and knowledge are current to today's pupils. They are in search of someone who is able to teach full time across key stages 3 and 4. This role will become a permanent role for the right fit. You will teach KS3 music to mixed ability classes introducing them to more technical aspects of the subject whilst allowing them the freedom to explore their own creativity. At KS4 the school follows the Edexcel examination board which focuses upon the 3 components of performing composing and appraising with a 30% 30% 40% split respectively.

SCHOOL INFORMATION

The school is situated in the South of Portsmouth with excellent links to public transport - both train and bus. A short walk fro the common and close enough to the city centre, the school brings a diverse atmosphere making for an excellent community feel. It recently retained it 'Good' Ofsted rating with mention to its capability to recognise early when students require additional help, and its teachers ability to provide targets to all pupils that are challenging yet achievable no matter their ability. They believe students should take responsibility for their learning and their actions. The pupils are encouraged to be challenged in lessons and to understand that learning is not always about getting the right answer.

REQUIREMENTS

Applications are welcome from teachers at any stage in their career including NQT's and both British trained Music teachers and overseas trained Music teachers will be considered for this position.

Applicants must:

  • Have experience teaching the UK curriculum, be in within previous UK schools, placements or international schools
  • Have the ability to bring a modern twist to the schools department
  • Contribute ideas that are challenging and innovate for both staff and pupils
  • Have compassion and patience with pupils adopting the schools values and ethos of being driven by its community spirit and positive regard for all pupils
