Teacher of Drama

Full time, permanent to start September 2020

Suitable for MPS/UPS Teacher

The school based on the boarder of Hampshire/West Sussex are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Drama to join their department for September 2020. It really is an exciting time to join this school. The school is considered to be a ‘good’ school led by a head that has ‘set a clear and ambitious vision to improve standards further’. The school has a real sense of community and positive working relationships between staff and pupils help to keep pupils safe, develop their personal skills and promote good achievement.

The school is a smaller than average secondary school that allows staff to cater for each individual student. Their overarching aim is to fully prepare their students for life beyond school and to ensure their success during a crucial stage in their learning journey. Teaching and Support Staff work hard to ensure their students make outstanding progress academically and personally to ensure they reach their full potential, developing their talents and gifts to the full. This school strives to ensure that when students leave them, they are responsible, happy young citizens who are prepared to thrive and make a positive contribution to society. As a teacher at this school it is imperative that you share the schools commitment.

The Drama department is guided by the National Curriculum and aim to use Drama as a learning medium for understanding of self, other people and society and to encourage respect and diversity of culture and belief. They also believe it can encourage language development, powers of spoken and written evaluation and imaginative response to a variety of stimuli. They aim to develop expressive movement, confidence in the use of drama conventions, powers of investigation and research and confidence in communication. They are looking for an enthusiastic individual who share these aims and commitments.

Drama is a popular & highly successful choice at GCSE at this school. The department follows the Edexcel GCSE Drama syllabus and they currently look at Blood brother by Willy Russell.

The department runs a Drama club every Thursday after school open to students from years 7-9; students are encouraged to express themselves and develop their skills whilst gaining more performance experience. In addition to this, there are many other opportunities for students to further their performance experience with a highlight being the annual school musical. They are keen for pupils to experience live performances and regularly organise trips to theatres to see professional shows from Chichester Festival Theatre to the West End

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. Applicants invited for interview will be required to produce proof of identity, right to work in the UK and qualifications.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training.
