Key Stage 3 Teacher, South London

Pay Rate: ÂŁ120-150 Full-Time/Permanent Role

A fantastic Hospital School Room, based in Lewisham, South London is seeking a Teacher with SEN experience to join their team for 2 days a week. The school, rated good by Ofsted, has a fantastic small team of staff and outstanding facilities.

The right candidate would be ready to make a difference in the lives of children with specific learning disabilities.

Are you available full time?

If so we can offer you:

  • Fantastic career development in a good school
  • Effective leadership and management committed to sustained improvement
  • Brilliant students, Ofsted notes their "attitudes to learning are outstanding."

The school is a Hospital School Room that supports children with long term or terminal illnesses. They are looking for the right candidate to teach the key stage 3 curriculum and support pupils with specific learning disabilities.

The school is located in South London and provides great transport links to the rest of London. The closes stations are Denmark Hill and Elephant and castle.

It has a family and community orientated vision and ethos, helping students achieve not just in their academic life but also their personal life.

About the school/role:

  • The children do not necessarily have any SEN needs - they have been admitted due to long term illnesses. There will be pupils there with SEN over time, but its unpredictable.
  • You will be required to plan and prepare lessons as part of your role. The pupils are of different ages and ability so the lessons must reflect this.
  • The pupils have their own homework as provided to them by their schools, that must be completed.
  • There is no way to predict which children will be in the classroom, so it could be any age and any ability.
  • The school room can fit 20 pupils max.
  • There is a minimum requirement of staff to be in the classroom in order for it to open, so you may have to teach 1:1 if it does not open.
  • If not enough children attend the school room then it does not open for the day and you will be required to teach in the wards.
  • It is a small team of 2 other teachers and 1 teaching assistant within the school room.
  • Pay - ÂŁ135 a day (determined by your previous experience)
  • Short working hours: 8:00am - 4pm (to be confirmed). You will teach one session in the morning and one session in the afternoon - the rest of the time you will be planning/prepping.
  • Parking on site.
  • Term time only.

Does this sound like the role for you? Make sure not to delay in applying as the school is looking to interview soon!

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a fully qualified teacher
  • Have previous experience assisting pupils with specific learning disabilities
  • Have at least 2 school based references
