Summer Term Primary Classroom Assistants

  1. Teaching Assistant
  2. Truro
Date posted : 03/04/24
  1. Flexible Working
£12.90 - 12.90 per hour

Job description

We are seeking to work with people who are passionate about primary education, the primary age group and the social and emotional well-being of children within school.

Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, a previous Nursery Nurse or preschool worker, or someone who has not yet started their career with children but has a particular interest in supporting young people - we would love to work with you! We are able to support people with limited experience who are wanting to gain experience, as well as supporting experienced educators to gain a better work life balance or find their next full-time role.

Firstly, a little bit about us. Teaching Personnel are the market leading Education staffing agency in the UK, with many years of experience supporting people into work within schools. I myself have worked here in Truro for 8 years and worked with the fantastic schools across Cornwall for all of that time. Over the years I have built some wonderful relationships with local headteachers and therefore am trusted with their staffing requirements. I receive daily requests for new Teaching Assistants both full-time and on a supply basis, so I am always interested in registering new people who are wanting a new role.

Now onto you. As mentioned above, you do not have to have experience supporting children, but a relevant training course of personal experience with children would be advantageous. We have lots of successful TAs who have worked in care previously as there are lots of transferable and relevant skills. You will be available at least 2 days per week and be able to travel to and around the areas of Truro and surrounding villages. Driving is desirable just due to us having some schools on the outskirts, but we are able to work with applicants who use public transport providing you can arrive to schools by 8:30am.

The role - I can offer both day-to-day supply work as well as full-time positions. Day-to-day supply work would suit someone who is wanting the flexibility to pick and chose days of work each week. You will be in control of your diary via an app, and can accept or decline bookings based on your availability and preferences. If you're wanting more consistent work in one school, I am regularly approached for both part-time and full-time Teaching Assistants to take on longer term bookings, so I can help in finding the right position that fits your experience and career goals.

All positions are paid on a weekly basis, with an hourly rate starting at £12.90 per hour. This is PAYE with no hidden fees or deductions. A usual school day is 8:30am to 3:15pm and you must have good command of the English language and be able to pass vetting with a child workforce DBS check and at least 2 references covering 24 months.

Please apply or reach out if you are wanting to begin or continue your career in the Primary Education sector and can access the Truro area. I look forward to working with you!

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
