Title: Sports Coach Assistant

School Location: York

Year groups: KS1 - KS4 (Year 1 to Year 11)

Daily rate: £9 - £13 per hour

Contract: Part time and full time positions available

Start Date: Positions available to start either Sept, Oct and Nov 2018

  • Have you recently graduated with a sports based or psychology degree?
  • Do you want to gain practical experience within the education sector?
  • Could you be a positive role model and support the social, emotional and intellectual development of pupils with extremely challenging behaviour?

If so Teaching Personnel are working exclusively with a Pupil Referral Unit in York. This provision supports pupils who have been unable to stay in mainstream education due to their behaviour. Some of the students within the PRU have additional special educational needs (SEN) such as Autism, ADHD, Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties or Multiple Learning Difficulties. The student's therefore require support outside the classroom.

As a Sports Coach Assistant you would be required to provide periods of respite for specific students who have outbursts and are therefore unable to stay within classroom learning. As each pupil can exhibit extremely challenging behaviour it is desired that you have excellent behaviour management skills and evidence of utilising these. As a Sports Coach Assistant you would be required to assist the class teacher with outdoor/ indoor sporting activities with the view to lead these sessions yourself.

To be successful for this position you will therefore have to have:

  • A relevant sporting degree
  • Experience delivering sports sessions
  • Confidence, passion and flexibility
