Specialist Teaching Assistant

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

-          Interested in working as a teaching assistant?

-          Available for a full time position?

-          Prior experience with children with learning difficulties or challenging behaviour?

-          Have a full UK driving licence or live in the Swansea or surrounding areas?

Then we may have the role for you!

Teaching Personnel work closely alongside an autistic provision to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to join their centre for both day to day supply and full time positions.

Ideally you’ll have experience teaching/supporting autistic pupils with a great manner of building relationships with both students and staff. Although experience isn’t always necessary! The right attitude and willingness to learn goes a long way!

The students attend the school due to a diagnosis of Autism and many have co-existing conditions including ADHD, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, disruptive behaviour disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, tics and Tourette syndrome, epilepsy and learning disabilities.

You would need to be confident and capable of supporting pupils in an education capacity that do have problems with communication, eating, toileting as well as those who have sensory difficulties. Therefore, a resilient character that has the ability to work proactively with challenging behaviour would be ideal.

The role is more challenging than mainstream schools, but the class sizes are smaller, so you’ll really have a great opportunity to build rapport and make an impression on the children.

So whether you have 10 years, 2 years or 2 months of experience in supporting children / adults with Autism or even if you have a close personal connection to Autism, get in touch!

The centre has been known to appoint candidates who get on particularly well on a long-term basis, which is a real incentive to show off your skill sets!

Some of the benefits:

-          Full time position available

-          Flexible working weeks

-          Excellent rate of pay, minimum of GBP57 per day

-          Team Teach training provided through Teaching Personnel as well as many additional courses!

-          You’ll be assigned a friendly personal consultant to oversee the whole process & will assist with your day to day queries as well as organising any training sessions you might be interested in

-          No hidden admin fees

-          Government approved company

If interested please contact Chris our specialist SEN consultant or send a copy of your CV through.

I look forward to hearing from you!
