Specialist Teaching Assistant – Year 2 Individual Support
Location: Haywards Heath, West Sussex
Contract: Temporary with potential for ongoing or full-time role
Working Pattern: Term Time, 5 Days per Week
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
A vibrant and aspirational primary school in Haywards Heath is seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for an individual Year 2 pupil with additional needs. Role Overview
- Deliver personalised support tailored to meet the individual pupil’s educational, social, and emotional needs.
- Support implementation of the pupil’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and adapt learning activities accordingly.
- Foster the development of independence, confidence, and positive behaviour in the pupil.
- Monitor and record progress, contributing valuable feedback to staff and parents.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCo, support staff, and parents to ensure coordinated and effective support.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment that reflects the school’s values.
- Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Specialist TA Requirements
- Proven experience working with children with SEND, especially within a primary school environment.
- Understanding of personalised learning approaches, behaviour strategies, and communication techniques suitable for young children with additional needs.
- Ability to apply patience, empathy, and adaptability in a one-to-one support role.
- Qualifications or training relevant to SEN support are desirable.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
