Special Needs Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking three special needs teaching assistants for a full-time role in KS2 starting September 2020 at a Primary Special Needs School within the borough of Ealing.

Location: Sudbury Hill, Ealing

Hours: 8:30 - 4:00pm Monday to Friday

Pay rate: GBP65 upwards (dependent on experience)

The school is based in the Sudbury Hill/Greenford area of Ealing for primary aged children across Early Years to Year 6. All pupils have special educational needs within the school such as autism, sensory needs, speech difficulties, physical disabilities, profound and complex medical conditions.

The school is an innovative and caring environment with strong links to the local community and schools. This enables the school to truly enhance their pupils learning and overall experience though use of outdoor learning and resources within the Ealing community.

Our client school requires three experienced special needs teaching assistants to work with children 1:1 and in small groups with autism, speech difficulties and severe learning difficulties. Some pupils may be non-verbal, have mobility difficulties and need support with personal care (toileting/nappy changing).

Having experience using PECS, TEACCH, Makaton, Sensory integration and Intensive Interaction or supporting with personal care/moving and handling is highly beneficial.

The successful special needs teaching assistant will:

• Have Special Educational Needs experience and confidence supporting SEN learners 1:1 and in small groups lessons
• Have clear knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum
• Be able to adapt support and resources to suit individual SEN pupil needs  
• Preferably have Primary School experience but all SEN experienced graduates and applicants welcome to apply
• Have excellent organisation and communication skills with proven successful experience with special needs  
• Be able to build and maintain a professional relationship with both the staff, pupils and parents
• Be able or open to support with personal care (toileting/nappy changing) or moving and handling
