Social Sciences Graduate Job

Date posted : 02/09/19
£57 - £65 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Teaching Personnel has been working in partnership with a CofE secondary school in Bath for a number of years and it is now looking for a number of graduates who are thinking about a career in education.

The school has had particular success in the past with Social Science Graduates as the students who need the most help have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Social Science graduates are great at recognising triggers, understanding the root cause and ultimately have the empathy to work with vulnerable children. Also, Social Science graduates in the past have started their own therapy clubs (Lego Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy) and the SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator) sees great value in this.

Just to clarify, our definition of a Science degree would include but is not limited to the following: anthropology, economics, human geography, politics, psychology and sociology.

YOU DO NOT NEED ANY TEACHING ASSISTANT EXPERIENCE NOR DO YOU NEED ANY TEACHING ASSISTANT QUALIFICATIONS. We are looking for someone who has the enthusiasm and drive to begin a career in education. You will supported and trained throughout your tenure.

This is a Monday to Friday role that will be likely supporting one or a group of students with SEMH. The start time is 8:30 and you will be finished by 3:30. The role will likely be for at least two terms.

Even though you don't need any formal Teaching Assistant qualifications, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Patience - this is not an overnight fix and in some cases it is behaviour management than change so patience is key
  • Confident - You must be confident with behaviour management, setting boundaries and dealing with challenging behaviour as soon as it arises
  • Enthusiastic - The students will push you but you must see the value in why you are there; you will make a difference
  • Committed - These are vulnerable students who need continuity and structure in their lives. You will get the opportunity to meet the students before you commit, but once you do, you need to see it through.

To apply is simple: contact me on the details below and "Social Sciences Graduate Job". I look forward to hearing from you :-)
