SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Teesside and County Durham

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time hours

Primary Industry: Education and Training

Salary: £77 - £90 Per day

Job Duties:

  • Provide support and assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN) in the classroom setting
  • Work closely with teachers to implement individual education plans for students with SEN
  • Assist with the development and implementation of appropriate learning activities
  • Support students in their social, emotional, and personal development
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN

Education:

A relevant teaching assistant qualification is desirable but not essential

Experience:

Prior experience in a similar role within an educational setting is preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different types of SEN and how to support students with diverse needs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, however not compulsory.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a temporary position with full-time hours
  • The role may involve working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
  • The work environment will be within a school setting, potentially in special educational needs units or mainstream classrooms

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
