SEND Teaching Assistant Needed - Chorley

Are you an enthusiastic and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term role within a primary school setting? We are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Chorley seeking dedicated support staff for the 2026/2027 academic year.

This role will involve working within a specialist SEND classroom provision and supporting a pupil with autism on a 1:1 basis. The pupil can display challenging and aggressive behaviours at times, so resilience, patience and strong behaviour management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality 1:1 SEND support.
• Support a pupil with autism throughout the school day.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Assist with learning activities and classroom engagement.
• Build strong relationships with staff, pupils and parents.
• Contribute to a safe and positive learning environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant.
• Knowledge of autism and SEND strategies.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
• Patient, adaptable and professional attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
