Special Educational Needs Coordinator – Harrow

An Independent Grammar Secondary School in Harrow is currently looking to recruit a Special Educational Needs Coordinator to start in January 2020. The position would be full time and the successful teacher would be required to lead and manage the SEN department in an ‘outstanding’ rated school.

  • SENCO position available to lead the SEN department of a secondary school

  • Pay rate in line with the MPS/UPS pay scale; GBP33,379 to GBP49,571 (M4 to U3) with an additional TLR

  • Full time position working Monday to Friday, 8:30 am till 4:30 pm

  • January 2020 start date, interview are commencing in December 2019

  • An outstanding Grammar school in Harrow that is part of the Jewish Denomination

The successful teacher will have extensive experience working with children with SEN alongside management experience. It is not compulsory that the successful applicant has experience working as a SENCO, but they have held leadership positions before. Senior leadership at the school would like to meet people who are personable and friendly, whilst having good organisation and management skills.

  • Must hold a PGCE or QTS

  • Have extensive experience working with children with SEN

  • Experience in management and leadership positions (not necessarily as a SENCO)

  • Friendly and personable character

  • Organised management skills

The Independent Grammar School in question is a modest size and puts a large emphasis on assisting children with SEN, having recently built a sensory room and adapted their curriculum to teach vocational and skill based subjects. Leadership at the school want to ensure they an integrate students with SEN into the mainstream school as much as possible and give them the tools and opportunities to excel later in life. The Harrow based school has onsite parking and is accessible via public transport.
