SEN Teaching Assistants- Walthamstow

A primary school for children with special needs in the Walthamstow area have opportunities for Learning Support Assistants looking for full time work to start in September. The school caters for pupils with complex special needs, mild to severe autism and challenging behaviours, with classes holding up to 8 students, a teacher and up to 3 other Teaching Assistants. We are looking for people that are passionate to make a difference with special needs children and have proven experience of supporting children on an Educational Health care Plan (EHCP) with a statement of special needs.

Teaching Assistants job specification:

  • Committed to the enrichment and development of children and young people with special needs
  • Experienced and/or interested in supporting special needs; Autism and social, emotional mental health difficulties
  • Able to motivate SEN pupils to fulfil their full potential in education and in society
  • Able to put pupils, parents and families at the heart of their decision making
  • Able to be a role model to pupils and enable them to make appropriate choices
  • Safeguarding trained or happy to complete safeguarding training
  • Qualified in GCSE grades A* - C or equivalent and/or higher and is able to produce certification

School offer:

  • Full time placement for whole academic year
  • Potential to secure a permanent contract
  • Competitive rates of pay : £65-£85 per day dependant upon experience

Successful Candidates must be able to:

  • Work long term and full-time Monday to Fridays 8:30am - 3:30pm during school term time
  • Prove that they are safeguarding trained or be happy to complete safeguarding trained
  • Prove that they hold a valid child DBS registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a child only DBS through Teaching Personnel within a week of interview date
