Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside a primary school in North Yorkshire to recruit a SEN teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will work on a full time basis, commencing September 2019.

Through your role as a SEN teaching assistant you will be working with children in Key Stages 1 and 2 to help engage and assist in their learning and classroom experience. You will be working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour such as:

  • Exclusion
  • Anxiety
  • Speech and language difficulties
  • A disengagement with the classroom and learning
  • Withdrawn attitudes
  • Frustrated, angry and aggressive tempers
  • Physical disabilities

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must have some experience working with children and young people with SEN, or who have demonstrated difficult behaviours and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) problems. As well as this, de-escalation training would be advantageous and the school would also consider a candidate with youth work backgrounds, or similar roles.

Teaching Personnel can offer behaviour support teaching assistant's competitive rates of £57-65 per day, as well as providing you with access to unique CPD opportunities.. The successful candidate will benefit from a Team-Teach qualification, which can be offered by Teaching Personnel in an upcoming training course in October 2019, should you not already be trained. If you are interested by this role, please call us today for a confidential chat to learn more.
