Summary: We are currently working in partnership with a Specialist SEN school in Cardiff who are currently looking to employ a number of Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to support children who have additional learning needs in their 3-19 provision from January 2020.

SEN Teaching Assistants in schools perform a vital function of bridging the gap between what teachers are teaching and what students are learning. This is challenging enough in a mainstream primary school, but if students have any additional learning needs, then SEN Teaching Assistants need to be skilled to maximise progress, supporting them pastorally, catering to their additional needs, managing their behaviour, and building rapport to gain their trust.

The Successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have an interest or experience in supporting students who have wide range of additional learning needs in a personal or professional capacity.
  • Not be fazed by challenging situations that may arise in the classroom.
  • Be happy to tend or willing to assist in personal care.
  • Have or be willing to gain a child & adult workforce DBS which is on the update service.

The Role: We are currently working with a number of SEN schools that caters specifically for students between 3-19 who have been diagnosed with a wide range of SEN including Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) & SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health).

Some of these students may have a Statement of SEN which is a legal document to ensure appropriate support is given. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the class teacher to ensure all lessons are accessible for all.
