SEN Teaching Assistant - Wigan
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant required for a large mixed secondary school that is located in Wigan.
- SEN Teaching Assistant - Required ASAP
- Supporting identified pupils and pupils on the Autistic Spectrum (ASC) on a 1:1 basis
- 12 month temporary position, with the potential of securing a permanent position dependent on performance and funding
- Typical earnings of £1000-£1200 per month depending on experience.
- Previous experience working with students with Special Education Needs is essential to be considered for this position.
Due to an increase of students joining the school this academic year with Special Educational Needs, the SENCO at our client Secondary school would like to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant as a matter of urgency.
The SENCO wishes to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant who has experience working alongside students that have identified needs, students with ASC and children that show signs of challenging behaviour. The school have highlighted that the incoming SEN Teaching Assistant must be able to work alongside students, promoting positive learning and behaviour whenever possible and are able to help them make consistent improvements in class. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant must have a calming nature when working alongside students with SEN needs and be able to identify and defuse stressful situations before they escalate.
Our client school;
- The school is caters for 950 students at present, which is large compared to other schools in Wigan
- The class sizes are small which allows teachers to enhance the learning opportunities for the pupils.
- The majority of students come from a white British background
- The school is located in Orrell and provides easy access to the Wigan town centre.
To be successful in the role of an SEN teaching assistant you will need to display a patient and empathetic personality, previous relevant experience in a work or educational capacity, suitable references and eligibility for a fully enhanced DBS certificate.
