SEN Teaching Assistant in York

Are you looking to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people in York? If yes, then you could be exactly the person we are looking for at Teaching Personnel!

I am looking for creative and experienced teaching assistants to work with pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, such as Autism, Learning Difficulties and English as an Additional Needs.

We have support roles available from Key Stage 1 to Post 16. Each of these provisions vary in approach and pupil's attainment can vary from the National Primary curriculum to GCSE or vocational levels. You may also be required to support pupils in a non-educational setting with the aim of supporting their return to mainstream learning in the near future.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience of working with children and young people with ASC or MLD
  • The ability to communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents
  • Experience of working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis
  • Commitment to prioritising the needs of the pupils in all that you do
  • Training in Team Teach or knowledge of de-escalation techniques would be advantageous

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
