Focused Support for Focused Learning: SEN Teaching Assistant – Stockport
Location: Stockport
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £89–£95 per day (dependent on qualifications and experience)
We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and inclusive secondary school in Stockport that requires a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant. You will work closely with students who require additional support to access the curriculum due to specific learning difficulties, social, emotional, or mental health needs, or conditions such as autism or ADHD.
Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 and small group support both in and out of class, tailored to individual learning plans.

Helping students understand lesson content, stay focused, and build confidence in their abilities.

Working in close partnership with the school’s SENCO and other support staff to adapt learning materials and strategies.

Supporting behaviour management strategies to ensure a calm and productive learning environment.

Monitoring and recording student progress and communicating key developments to staff and parents/carers as appropriate.
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting young people with additional needs, either in education, care, or youth settings.

Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in inclusive education.

Can communicate clearly with both students and adults, and collaborate effectively with staff.

Holds (or is working toward) relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in psychology or SEN.
This is a long-term opportunity with real potential for professional development, including teacher training or SEN specialisation pathways.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
