Trainee Teaching Assistant – Stockport, Levenshulme & Chorlton
Starting September 2025

Are you passionate about supporting young people and considering a career in education? We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join secondary schools in Stockport, Levenshulme, and Chorlton as Trainee Teaching Assistants from September 2025.

This role is perfect if you want hands-on experience in a school environment and are interested in developing a career in teaching, SEND support, pastoral care, or educational psychology.

What you’ll do as a Trainee Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons across a variety of subjects

  • Support individual pupils or small groups, especially those needing extra help

  • Help prepare classroom resources and displays

  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, ensuring a safe, positive learning space

  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents

  • Receive ongoing training, mentoring, and professional development throughout the year

This position offers a comprehensive introduction to the education sector with regular feedback, CPD sessions, and opportunities to shadow experienced staff.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Energetic, empathetic, and passionate about helping young people succeed

  • Excellent communicator and team player

  • Reliable, punctual, organised, and proactive

  • Eager to learn and embrace new challenges with a positive attitude

Desirable (not essential):

  • Previous experience working or volunteering with children or young people

  • Interest in pursuing a career in education or youth work

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
