Location: Poole, Dorset

SEN Teaching Assistant

If yes, this opportunity to join a Specialist School in Poole may be for you!

 

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students aged 5-11 years old with various special educational needs:

  • All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Primary needs: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
  • Additional needs may include ADHD, dyslexia, OCD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN), and attachment difficulties

The school provides therapeutic support including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, and equine therapy.

 

Who We Are Looking For

  • A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting young people
  • SEN / SEMH based experience in or out of an educational setting
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
