SEN Teaching Assistant – Pembrokeshire

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)? Teaching Personnel are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to work across secondary schools and specialist SEN provisions in Pembrokeshire.
We are looking for proactive, bubbly, and committed individuals who can help young people feel safe, supported, and ready to progress.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you may support learners with a range of needs, including:
- ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition)
- ADHD
- PMLD (Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
Many learners will have an Individual Development Plan (IDP) or a One-Page Profile, which you will use to guide and tailor your support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building supportive, positive relationships
- Supporting emotional, social, and academic development
- Encouraging independence and confidence
- Helping create an inclusive and safe learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from candidates who are:
- Warm, enthusiastic, and proactive
- Passionate about supporting young people with ALN
- Adaptable and patient in their approach
- Strong communicators and team players
- Health and Social Care Qualification
Experience with ALN or working with children is preferred, but not essential — transferable skills are welcomed.
Requirements
To work with Teaching Personnel, you will need:
- An Enhanced Child-Only DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- EWC registration (or willingness to register)
- A minimum of 24 months of references
- A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEN/ALN
- Maintain regular communication with your consultant

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
