SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Garston, Liverpool (L19)
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £14.25 – £15 per hour (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, temporary (with potential for extension)

The Role

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with the school to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs, including those who may present with challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, development, and wellbeing
  • Contribute to a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a resilient, confident, and compassionate individual who:

  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEN in a primary school setting (essential)
  • Has experience working with challenging behaviour (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills
  • Is patient, adaptable, and proactive
  • Builds positive professional relationships with pupils and staff
  • Is committed to supporting children with additional needs
