Sports Coach – Primary School Teaching Assistant

Location: Woolton L25, Liverpool
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for permanent opportunities)
Pay: £14.25 – £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)


Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Sports Coach to join a vibrant and supportive primary school in Woolton from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your enthusiasm for sport and physical activity into a classroom setting, supporting pupils not only with their physical development but also their academic progress and social skills.

You will play a key role in encouraging active learning, promoting healthy lifestyles, and helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive sports and physical activity sessions across the school
  • Support pupils’ learning in the classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, preparation, and classroom management
  • Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and participation
  • Support pupils with additional needs, including SEN, where required
  • Help create a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Experienced or qualified in Sports Coaching, Physical Education, or a related field
  • Passionate about inspiring and engaging children through sport and activity
  • Confident, proactive, and able to adapt to different classroom situations
  • Strong communicators with excellent teamwork and organisational skills
  • Experienced working with children (school-based experience desirable but not essential)

This role is ideal for sports graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced coaches looking to transition into education.
