SEN Teaching Assistant (ASC Support) - Year 1 KS1
Location: Maghull, Seton Liverpool
Agency: Teaching Personnel
Pay: £15.00 per hour
Contract: September 2026 to July 2027 (potential temp to perm contract)

Are you a caring, patient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

Teaching Personnel is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) at a welcoming primary school in Maghull. This rewarding role will run from September 2026 through to July 2027, offering the opportunity to build a positive and lasting relationship with the child while supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.

The Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help the pupil access learning, develop confidence, and thrive within the classroom environment. The successful candidate will provide tailored support throughout the school day, adapting activities where necessary and encouraging independence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASC.
  • Support the child's learning and engagement during lessons.
  • Help implement strategies outlined in the pupil's support plan.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Assist with social interaction and communication development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly ASC.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can remain calm and adaptable in different situations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
